A. Complete the following statements.

B. Answer the following questions in about 30 words each.

1. What was awfully funny about the words written in the book found by Tommy?

Answer: Tommy found a very old book which was about the school. The book was written centuries ago and a man used to teach in a particular school. The school has a special building where students and teachers study together. Tommy found that awfully funny because students and teachers studied together. 

2. Why had Margie started hating her school more than ever?

Answer: Margie started hating her school more than ever because the mechanical teacher was giving her test after test. She was doing worse in every test which made her hate going to school. 

3. What was the complication in the geography sector of Margie’s teacher?

Answer: The complication in the geography sector was the standard was set above Mergie’s age. There was a lot of homework and continuous tests which were tough for Mergie’s understanding level. 

4. ‘Margie thought he would not know how to put it together again.’ Whom do ‘he’ and ‘it’ refer to? Why did Margie not want ‘it’ to be put it together again?

Answer: The ‘he’ in the question refers to the country inspector and ‘it’ refer to the the mechanical teacher. He did not want the mechanical teacher to put it together again because Mergie did not want to attend school for a few days.

Answer: Tommy is referring to the book as a waste. No, it is not at all a waste. Books are the loyal and best companion we can have in our life. We can always find a trustworthy companion in books. There are all types of books out there. We will always find books that solve our problems and answer our questions. So we should always try to read as many books as possible. 

B. ‘How could a man be a teacher?’ says Margie. But we do have human teachers. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of having a computer as a teacher as compared to a human teacher.

Answer: Some of the advantages of a computer teacher are- 

  • Computers have answers to every question. We can learn from computers from the comfort of our homes and don’t have to attend school. 
  • Computers are very fast. They give us the solutions within seconds. 
  • As a machine, computers are always impartial and treat everyone equally. 

Although computers are very safe and beneficial, there are some disadvantages as well. Here are the disadvantages- 

  • A computer cannot teach us moral values like a teacher would. 
  • Computers won’t warn us about bad things. It won’t tell us the difference between good things and bad things. 
  • Computers won’t answer our evey curiosity. 
  • Computers don’t have human empathy like a teacher.

  • Try to be honest always with your parents and teachers.
